Watch Girls of MTB Construct Trails & Fellowship in ‘She Digs’

‘She Digs’ follows 50-plus women on an empowering, sweat-laden mountain bike trail-building mission.

Kirsten Smith and Brooke Goudy are, for all intents and purposes, crushers. As leaders of inclusivity-focused The Elevated Alpine and Black Girls Do Bike Denver, both pro riders strive to bring women of all backgrounds and abilities together via the outdoors.

Recently, the pair organized “She Digs,” a weeklong MTB trail-building retreat on the ancestral Tribal lands near Nederland, Colo.

The effort was both physical and symbolic. “This weekend was a chance to appreciate all of the work that goes into maintaining trails,” Smith explained, “[and] to appreciate everyone’s accomplishments in advancing women in mountain biking.”

Smith and Goudy funneled a percentage of sponsorship funds back to the area’s Indigenous community. Get some dirt under your fingernails with this wholesome clip.
