Belgian PeloPics: Now that we are in the middle of the Spring Classics here is part 2 of John Thomson’s Special Belgian Classic Photo Gallery. More of his selection from bike races, fashion, life in Belgium and some subjects that are quite Belgianesque.

Smiling and shooting the photographers
Growing up in Canada the first road bicycle race I remember seeing was at the 1976 Montreal Olympics on a black and white TV. So until the late 70’s when my cycling obsession took hold, hockey was the sport. This shot of “the Great One” was taken in Vancouver in the early 80’s with a Pentax 35mm camera and a manual focus zoom lens and is the luckiest photo I have ever taken. (Notice the sticks from both sides trying to slow him down when he doesn’t even have the puck)
