No surprises that the opening stage ends in a sprint or that it’s Team DSM’s Lorena Wiebes who takes the honor of wearing the first-ever(ish) Tour de France Femmes yellow jersey. [Yes, there was an official women’s TdF in the 80s, but different name.] Wiebes and Lotto’s Marianne Vos made it more suspenseful than it should have been for a dominant sprinter to do what was expected, as Vos, the longtime singular superstar of women’s cycling, launched up the right side from 100 meters out. Wiebes, who narrowly avoided getting boxed out of the sprint on the left barriers, eventually responded and pulled past Vos in the last 30 meters. Results:
- WIEBES Lorena, Team DSM, 1:54:00
- VOS Marianne, Team Jumbo-Visma
- KOPECKY Lotte, Team SD Worx
- BARBIERI Rachele, LIV racing Xstra
- NORSGAARD Emma, Movistar Team

Paris Tour Eiffel – Champs Élysées 81.6 km
After a too long wait the Tour de France for women is finally back. Eight stages starting with the classic Champs Élysées sprint and ending in the Vosges on the Super Planche des Belles Filles.
After the team presentation the actual stage starts at 13:30 CEST
Expected finish: 15:25 – 15:40 CEST
First Yellow Jersey of the 21st century : Lorena Wiebes
Rarely do we see a bigger favorite after the golden era of Vos than Wiebes on a sprint day like this. Still many more than capable opponents but if things go even close to OK for DSM then Wiebes should win this by a bike length even.
