‘Sure Change’: The Evolution of Ladies’s Biking

[ad_1]

Episode 2 of Wahoo’s ‘Open The Road’ series looks back at the trials and tribulations in women’s bike racing, and offers a thoughtful roadmap for its future.

“The men’s side of the sport has seen teams spend more money and use more resources than ever before,” explains cycling pro Marianne Martin. “The women’s side of the sport has not kept pace.”

But are the tides turning in women’s cycling? With the addition of the women’s World Tour in 2016, the women’s Paris-Roubaix in 2021, and now the return of the women’s Tour de France in 2022, forward progress is at an all-time high. This sort of momentum, however, doesn’t maintain itself.

According to Martin, “It is the responsibility of each rider, race organizer, and the fans to see the change through, to play their part in the progress and growth of the sport we are all passionate about.”

Take a look at this brief documentary from Wahoo. And, for an even deeper dive, tune into “A Brief History of Women’s Bike Racing.”
