Muc-Off Launches New eBike Drivetrain Tool
Muc-Off, the global leaders in bicycle and motorcycle care and performance, are excited to announce the launch of their new eBike Drivetrain Tool.
Cleaning, lubing and protecting an eBike drivetrain can be a challenge, as the motor means the chain doesn’t spin backwards with the crank arms, like a regular bike. Until now!
Introducing the Muc-Off eBike Drivetrain Tool!
This revolutionary bit of kit locks firmly into an eBike sprocket bolt, allowing the drivetrain to spin backwards freely, making eBike maintenance a breeze. Not only is it quicker, but it’s safer on parts too. Riders have taken to flipping their bikes upside down or wheeling the bike forwards to apply lube to their chains; thanks to the Muc-Off eBike Drivetrain Tool, scratched up displays, bars, saddles and frames can be a thing of the past.
The Drivetrain Tool is made from a durable CNC machined 6061 aluminum body and finished in the classic Muc-Off anodized pink. It’s compatible with most eBike chain rings (excluding spiderless), thanks to the supplied 5mm, 6mm Hex & T30 Torx bits which snap into place with a magnetized connection. There’s even a protective silicone sleeve which means it won’t damage cranks.
“We get excited about developing simple products that provide solutions to big problems, and we love taking riders’ maintenance game to the next level – this new eBike Drivetrain Tool hits the mark on both fronts! After months of real-world testing, we’re stoked with the results; it makes looking after eBikes easier than ever, so we’re confident it’ll become a ‘must-have’ tool for eBikers everywhere.” – Alex Trimnell, CEO at Muc-Off.
Due to the force generated by the motor, an eBike drivetrain is subjected to significantly higher torque loads than that of a traditional bike, so chain lubrication becomes a vitally important part of the maintenance regime. An eBike drivetrain which is either not lubed, or that is lubed with a non eBike specific lubricant, can lead to snapped or stretched chains, as well as increased wear to expensive components such as cranks, cassettes, and derailleurs.
Using one of Muc-Off’s eBike specific lubes, alongside this new Drivetrain Tool can help prevent these issues, making it a must-have combo for any eBike shredder. Plus the new tool is supplied with a lanyard and carabiner clip, so it’s on hand for when the drivetrain needs some lovin’!
Muc-Off are celebrating the launch, with the release of their eBike Arcade video, which sees fan-favorite Chopper Fielder, as he searches for a post ride clean down. Attracted by flashing lights and cheers of celebrations, he attempts to win the ultimate eBike cleaning and maintenance jackpot. Watch the video and check out the eBike Arcade blog, which is stacked with tips and tricks to supercharge rider’s eBike maintenance game.

Gnarly Nutrition Transitions to Recyclable Steel Packaging
Gnarly Sports Nutrition, the makers of clean, effective, and great tasting sports nutrition supplements, is proud to announce that they will be transitioning all of their product packaging from plastic tubs to highly recyclable tin coated steel cans. As the first sports nutrition brand to utilize steel cans, Gnarly is spearheading a movement in sustainable packaging within the supplement industry.
Gnarly Nutrition’s transition to tin coated steel is inspired by the fact that steel has the highest recycling rate of any material, with around 71% being repurposed compared to 8% of plastics. As the US lacks domestic recycling infrastructure, most recyclables are currently sent to landfills. Unlike plastic, steel can be recycled indefinitely with no loss of quality. While Gnarly Nutrition’s plastic tubs have historically been made using recyclable HDPE plastic #2, plastic can only be recycled one to two times before it starts being broken down further beyond recyclability and with concern of microplastic creation. The majority of all new steel manufactured comes from recycled steel, helping greatly reduce the amount of iron ore, limestone, and coal being mined. In addition, steel is often and easily pulled from landfills due to its magnetic properties.
“Over the last 18 months, we’ve been trying to find a replacement for single use plastic packaging that not only makes a substantial improvement in packaging sustainability but also maintains our high product quality standards,” says Gnarly CPO/COO, Shannon O’Grady. “In addition to their superior recyclability, Steel cans are also hermetic, or air tight, thus setting the standard for shelf life and product integrity. This is Gnarly Nutrition’s first step towards responsible packaging and we’re in it for the long game.”
Gnarly Nutrition is proud to announce that their sleek, durable steel cans are USA-made. Their first steel cans will begin to ship to customers on September 30, 2021, with their Pre Workout and BCAA products leading the transition. Collagen Pro, Whey, and Vegan products will shift to the new, more sustainable packaging throughout the fall as inventory allows. Gnarly hopes that their new packaging solution inspires other brands to join suit in reducing plastic waste.
Eli Kerr, Gnarly’s CEO, says “We know our customers trust our quality and effective products, and we are focused on continuing to build a brand that we believe also resonates with our customers – which includes caring about the Earth and our impact on it. These steel cans are just one step (albeit a giant one!) for Gnarly towards more sustainable solutions for our packaging. I am proud of our team and their vision to do something different, something better than what has previously been done in the supplement industry. We are just getting started.”
